Objectives

How to be able to describe trends and to give accurate reports on performance data: i) Verbs for performance. ii) Prepositions of time/movement. iii) Collocations

Grammar

Prepositions of time/movement: i) Increased by 10% ii) Fell from 87 to 78 iii) Plummeted to 14%

Description

Reports need to be accurate and exact. If we make mistakes in the way we report data and other performance figures to others, we risk confusing them and giving them wrong information. In English, there are some verbs that are very useful terms that can show the movement of figures or data on a performance chart. These verbs are usually paired with prepositions in order to provide more accurate descriptions. Let’s try to see how many of these verb + preposition combinations are already familiar to you.
